ARMED FORCES COOP (FOUR CREDITS)
Students will earn $38.95 per half day, 77.90 per day which about $3500.00 per semester. They must commit to four weekends and will have the opportunity for summer employment. Students will earn four credits. This will take place during the afternoons in second semester. You will attend morning classes at Adam Scott. Students will gain valuable life skills, which can be very rewarding in whatever career path ;they decide to take.
What the student will do:
Basic introduction to Armed Forces Reserve.
Drill, discipline, and general knowledge
Physical Fitness
Navigation by day and night
First Aid Training - student receives St John’s First Aid Certificate
Harassment and diversity within the workplace
Weapons Training
Minimum of four weekends at the firing ranges.
Survival Skills
Team Building activities
Nuclear / Biological / Chemical defence training
Time Appreciation
This will be a 50 / 50 split between classroom and outdoors.
Requirements:
Must be at least 16 years of age
Minimum of 15 credits
Pass aptitude test, medical exam, interview and fitness test
Must not be under court order, probation etc
Documentation required when submitting application form: Social insurance card; Bith certificate; Original high school transcript showing grade 10 with minimum of 15 credits
Application forms must be printed by hand and legible in black or blue ink.
Successful Co-op Candidates
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to join the Armed Forces Reserves for summer employment. During the summer, time will be split between Kingston and Petawawa. Transport, food, clothing and accommodation will be provided and the student will earn about $4,000 over the summer. This portion will include infantry trades training, including driver training.
