PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
At this time of year, students are busy
starting up a new semester and taking part in the variety of extra-curricular
opportunities offered at our school. Students in Grade 10 are concentrating
on the upcoming Literacy Test. At the same time, one of our most important
academic activities is taking place - choosing next year's course of study.
Our Student Services department will be
putting on a parent information night on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00
p.m. for parents of students in Gr. 9 - 11 to help with the wide spectrum
of choices available. As well, counsellors will be visiting classes to
discuss in detail the course calendar with students.
I would also like to draw your attention
to our school website: www2.kpr.edu.on.ca/acvi which has a wealth of information
about our school and also has some great research sites such as search.epnet.com
which is an excellent tool for students doing research projects.
Winter Break is March 8 - 15th
inclusive. Have a safe and happy holiday!
As always, please do not hesitate to call
me with any concerns or compliments you may have about our school.

Dare to Dance is a stage adaptation
of the popular 1987 film Dirty Dancing. The storyline is much the
same; however, (and let me assure you) all the "dirty dancing" aspects
from the film have been eliminated. We do have a Jennifer Grey and a Patrick
Swayze look-alike! The story, which takes place in the Catskills in 1963
focuses on how stereotypes often wrongly label individuals of misconduct.
It also stresses the importance of individuality and respect for all, regardless
of social status. The music is early 1960's - similar to the film - and
very upbeat, lending itself to fabulous dance sequences. The show is fast
paced, uplifting, and full of fun - one that I believe both students and
staff will greatly enjoy.
