VICE PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

- MS. RUSSELL

We are on the final push toward the end of the year! Keep up with schoolwork, maintain study habits, organize yourselves, and nurture your friendships.

Congratulations to all students who have contributed to school life through participation in extra-curricular activities. You make a difference for all of us!

OPEN HOUSE

Welcome Spring & all things Green!!! Hey, that's our school color! All are invited to an Adam Scott Open House on Thursday evening, May 25, 2006 to celebrate our Intermediate School students and their spirit, skills and pride. (Hear our young Lions roar!) We will be hosting a welcome to Grade 6 students and their families with a BBQ before the Open House gets started. We hope to see many families and friends at that time.

HISTORY FAIR

We can be very proud of the excellent presentations made by all members of the History Fair Group in Roseneath.

These five students did a great job explaining their projects to judges and visitors to the Fair. They also enjoyed workshops on First Nations dancing and storytelling.

At the end of the day, the judges’ verdicts were revealed and we were delighted to hear that:

- Madeleine Brown was given the new Archives of Ontario Award for her use of primary sources;

- Harrison Perkins won the International Plowing Match award for an agriculture-related theme, and will be demonstrating the craft of tinsmithing at next fall’s International Plowing match, September 19-23;

- of the three students selected to attend the Provincial History Fair to be held in St. Catherines, May 24-28, two are our own Adam Scott students: Madiah Alam for her work on the sinking of the S.S. Atlantic, and Katelyn Franko for her presentation on her Second World War veteran grandfather;

- and out of over 100 projects at the Fair, the one student project selected to go directly to the National Fair in Halifax this summer was The History of Harvey Street, produced by Madeleine Brown.

These five students brought enthusiasm, hard work, energy, and commitment to your projects and presentations. Well done, all!
