New Teachers Join the West Staff for Semester 1, 2008!

There are a number of new teachers on staff at our school this year. In this space, we will be profiling our new additions:

Ms. Gilmour

Professionally speaking, I have been teaching for the past twelve years at Port Hope High School.  During my time at that school, I held a variety of positions of responsibility:  assessment and evaluation coordinator, literacy coordinator, modern languages coordinator, and student success teacher.  At PHHS, I was one of 4 teachers who started LINK Crew and I look forward to helping out in the area of transitions at CDCI West.  I am a graduate from Queen's University where I completed both my B.A. (Honours) and my B. Ed.

On a personal level, I am married and have two active boys (ages 7 and 9).  I spend a great deal of my time being a chaffeur (from one sporting event to the next) and I love it!!!  I am originally from Napanee but my husband and I have lived in this area since 1996.

I am really looking forward to settling in at the West.  The students and staff have been very welcoming.

Mr. Culligan

Before working at CDCI West, I worked at Holy Cross (Peterborough), and Crestwood (Peterborough). I currently reside in the Peterborough area. I went to Trent for Mathematics and Queen's for Teacher's College. I am currently running the games club here at the West and have enjoyed my semester so far.

Mr. Kerr

What do you think about the West?

There is a strong sense of community at the school, which is very positive for staff and students.
You can't beat the location, considering how close we are to downtown and our beautiful waterfront.

What is your favorite thing about the West?

The sports programs are strong, and the students are very committed to extra-curricular programs.

Are you planning on getting involved or running any activities this year?

I’m currently coaching the junior boys soccer team , and will help out with track and field if I am needed.

Is there anything you would change about the West?

It is too early to say for me. Everything is going well at this point.

Other new teachers include: Ms. Dingle, Ms. Coward
