Welcome to the E-mail exchange page! Have you ever wondered what other people think about the environment? Are the environmental issues, and solutions in your biome, the same as those of people in different areas of the world? Would you like to share concerns, ideas and hopes with students of other cultures? This page is designed to promote inter-school e-mail exchange between teachers or classes.

One of the goals of the World Wide Biome Project is to promote a global understanding and appreciation of world ecosystems. One way of achieving this might be to have classes exchange e-mail letters on issues of interest. The topics of discussion are boundless, but some examples might include:

1. Exchange views on major ecological worries and significant successes in your local area.

2. Compare further between ecological studies - are there local endangered species? Do you share common plants?

3. Discuss world environmental issues - how do you feel about your government's actions regarding global warming?

4. Exchange writeups about local animals that are well known - American black bear versus coyote versus hyena.

Certainly schools vary in the computer/e-mail facilities available to students. Even if your school has limited facilities, there are many creative ways of getting a letter to be sent via e-mail. If you need suggestions on how to do this, just give me a shout. Last year my classes exchanged e-mail with a school in Fort Resolution (see the Research pages). It was one of the most rewarding teaching experiences I have ever had. Not only did students learn about a different part of our country, but some had never used e-mail before, and found it facinating!

The following list of e-mail addresses are of people who have joined the World Wide Biome Project. Their e-mail addresses were valid as of September 1999. If you are interested in setting up an e-mail exchange, they may be interested. They could certainly tell you what they have done in terms of the Biome Project. There are also many educational sites posting address of schools interested in e-mail exchanges, and they might be interested in these topics!
