The table summarizes the names, uses and parts of plants used, that were found in the study area. Note that of the plants found:
- 14 of 40 were useful as medicines
- 11 of 40 were a source of food for humans
- 13 of 40 were useful for building
- 8 of 40 were useful as a source of fuel
- 6 0f 40 were useful for agricultural uses
Further, a variety of different parts of the plants were used. Bark, trunk, stems, leaves, roots, grains and fruits were all used. Obviously there is a great knowledge about the usefulness of plants known to the people in this community!
The students will be doing more research and field work in the new year.
