The plant Puka, or Meryta sinclarii, is a large leafed plant endemic to the off shore islands. It is planted in gardens to give a "tropical" feel to the garden.
Hebe speciosa is found at Hokianga and The Bluff, Dargaville. It has become a common plant in ornamental gardens.
