Re-enacting the Past at the West

The Cobourg West History Department stages several events a year. Most are open to the public, a few are limited by space to guests that contact the History Department before the event. We also welcome the assistance of re-enactors and living historians in bringing the past to life. Grade 4 Roman and Medieval Workshops January 26th and June 24th, 2010 CDCI West Yes, please contact C. Robins you are a Roman or medieval re-enactor/living historian. Grade 4 teachers please contact C. Robins to set up a time to attend - spaces are limited.
Norwood 1812 Re-enactment (Civil War event is May 2011) May 6th-8th, 2010 Norwood Highschool Yes, re-enactors are to contact Norwood Highschool and veterans to contact C. Robins Audience welcome Friday and especially Saturday. Modest admisssion cost.
Grade 7 War of 1812 Re-enactment and Workshops and Native Pow-wow May 19th, 2010 with a May 21st rain day. James Cockburn park in Cobourg off Elgin street.

Re-enactors, native presenters, 19th century craftspeople, local historians and veterans are greatly encouraged to attend. Please contact C. Robins.

Grade 7 Teachers please contact C. Robins as number of spaces are limited for workshops. The public is welcome to attend. Cost is $2 per person.
Waterfront Festival War of 1812 Re-enactment and Workshops July 3rd, 2010 Waterfront Festival Grounds on the beach in Cobourg Re-enactors are very welcome. Please contact C. Robins. Audience is very welcome with no cost for any of the events.

Units

For 1812, CDCI West students re-enact the I.M.U.C. (Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada), Northumberland Militia, the Kentucky 1st Rifle Regiment, and the 6th U.S. Regulars. For the American Civil War, we re-enact the 69th New York Regiment and the 33rd Virginian Regiment.

The Kentucky Rifle Regiment is the parent re-enacting group for the CDCI West Re-enacting Group.
