WEST SPIRIT RUNS FOR TERRY FOX!
The entire West was out in full force raising money and running in the 2008 Terry Fox Run. In the great spirit of the West staff and students wore their Blue and Gold with pride in addition to having their faces and bodies painted in the school colours.
Students are on track to meeting this year's fundraising goal for the Terry Fox Run. Students are reminded to brin in all of their money and forms.
The West would like to thank the Cobourg community who has always supported the West in raising money and awareness for this great cause.

HAVE A BLAST AT AROWHON!
The Grade 10 class had a great time up at Camp Arowhon in Algonquin Park. Students hiked, canoed, kayaked, square-danced among lots of other activities during the annual trip up to the park.
The weather was gorgeous, the food outstanding and the memories made will last a lifetime.
Special thanks goes out to Mr Thomas who has been overseeing the organization of this trip for years. Thanks also go out to the staff who spent the 4 days organizing and running the various programs for our students: Mr Allen, Mr Leguard, Mr Kempton, Mr Cordukes, Mr Lenters, Mr Mack, Mr Walkau, Mrs Toope, Mrs Ashley, Mrs Young, Mrs Gibson, Mrs Clarke and Mr Thomson (coming out of retirement for the 4 days). Thanks also go out to our student helpers: Anthony, Daria, Jeremy, Josh and Kelsey.
This is a very unique program that the West offers for our Viking students and we are looking forward to another great experience next year!

Join Pitch In to Help Clean Up Cobourg for Earth Day!!!
Cobourg West was
out in force for Earth Day! We scoured the parks, the streets
and the waterfront to clean up the entire area. Over 15 classes
took part in the event with over 100 bags of garbage and recycling
being picked up, as well as posts, metal, bottles and more! We
have certainly done our part for Earth Day! And there are more
photos to come!!!
This is only part
of the Earth Week program. The Environment Club has started composting
in the cafeteria, has put up awareness posters throughout the
school and has led an awareness campaign in all of the classes.
There is sidewalk chalk drawings from the English department,
signs and posters from other classes and a building awareness
of making every day an Earth Day!
Thanks goes out
to everyone who has taken part so far, and for everyone who is
pledging to work hard in the future for enrivonmental issues!
