Our Special Education Department works with students who have been identified as exceptional using the I.P.R.C. process (Identification and Placement Review Committee). This process involves assessment by our board's psychological services personnel and meetings with parents, teachers and the student to determine the best placement. Students with learning disabilities are individuals with average to above average intelligence who have a significant gap between what they should be able to learn and what they actually achieve.

Some of the services we provide to learning disabled students include;

  • working closely with classroom teachers to modify and adjust curriculum to meet the students needs.
  • the opportunity to take a Learning Strategies course instead of grade 9 French. This course focuses on the fundamental skills of reading, writing, math, success strategies, life skills and personal well being.
  • a quiet place to work and receive assistance as needed.
  • an alternative setting to write tests, exams and other evaluations.
  • support and remediation in areas of need.
